Fire-Resistant window shades: They are storeable above your windows on rolls. When a wildfire threatens, they roll down automatically to cover the windows. And they work.
JET MISTERS:
This protects the window from thermal shock.
CONTROL VALVES:
Low-cost fire-enabled control valves: These turn on automatically when a wildfire or wind-blown burning embers are present.

A windows protected
A window protected by a jet mister was unharmed by this fire. Covering the window by a fire-proof shade and a jet mister would add much better protection.
Windows unprotected
Our experiments show that fire can easily break a single-pane window and enter. But it is harder for fire to break through a double-pane window. In a large wildfire, no unprotected window or vent is safe.
